Wireless Security Concerns
Some people are concerned about wireless security and wonder if
their Internet can be "hacked" or sniffed.
It is true that any kind of communication can be hacked so
the real question becomes "Is the connection reasonably secure
and what technologies are used to secure it."
The most likely way a wireless signal will be hacked is when a
client installs a wireless router in his/her home and leaves it
un-encrypted, or when a person uses an unencrypted public hotspot.
Unfortunately, home routers are often installed by inexperienced
people who leave an "open connection" and anyone with a laptop
computer can link into your omni directional wireless router.
All home users should encrypt their wireless routers. The
best form of encryption is WPA which stands for WiFi Protected
Access. To learn about WPA

On an Access Kentucky wireless link there is little chance your
signal will be intercepted and there are several reasons for that:
- Your signal is point-to-point from your device to our tower.
- If you are on 2.4 wireless you are encrypted with WPA.
- If you are on 5.8 wireless you have proprietary encryption
that is unique to our gear which cannot be readily purched on
the retail market. Additionally, our 5.8 system is highly
sophisticated. You can read full details on that
here.
In summary, due to the encryption and point-to-point nature of
your links, we consider our wireless service to be extremely secure.
